The Educational Paradox

Left-wing activists would brand the kind of excellent education that Rees-Mogg received at Eton and Oxford as ‘elitist’ and privileged and would demand similar access for poor children. Ironically, were a child from a rough estate to receive the same excellent historical and political education, it is likely that he or she would understand the shortcomings of leftist ideology and, in many respects, ‘become’ what JRM is in terms of political sympathies. The irony would be that the educational process the left demanded for the child might ensure that the child became what they hate. A little education is a dangerous thing.......
