Religion does not instill morality. It codifies and explains what is naturally there. The 10 Commandments were not stone tablets vindictively dropped on the heads of the Jews to punish them. They simply explained and codified that which naturally arises in all self-conscious and social creatures. That is to say in man.
Seeing religious people as those who have been indoctrinated is just a way of demeaning them because, a priori you had a grudge against religion. If you can describe them thus you can feel comfortable in dismissing them thus. Fits the bill with Hitchens?
