On the Sexuality of Angels

Which is to reduce Catholics to cretinous idiots in order to dismiss them as -, surprise surprise........cret-- isn't there a name in philosophy for this process. It has an attractive kind of internal infallibility and inevitability I suppose as a process.

I've never met a real Catholic (including many priests - I worked with 40 at one time) who thinks one's views on the status of angels important in any sense at all. It's hard to imagine such literal-minded people. Reminds me of the medieval angels on pinheads caricature. It's nothing more than that. If Catholicism was dragooned belief in sexless angels or if the sexuality or reproductive ability of angels was of any moment at all I certainly wouldn't believe in it. This is to distract and concentrate on the tiniest speck while missing a grand beam or to strain out a gnat while missing a vast camel. I concede that I torture these biblical metaphors with some license. If you strain out the key to it all you also strain out the effect and influence of that keystone in giving perspective on the rest. Hence the silly perspective and emphases on the ludicrous.
