The Moral Drama of Life......

........makes many demanding challenges of us and some of us will rise to the challenge and some of us will fail. Some people can't bear this burden and uncertainty and so take short cuts to what they see as nailed on virtue. They get in first and advertise their virtue as though the mere advertisement or signalling of it makes it true. They also see it as a zero sum game. If they can exclude others from virtue by forms of denunciation (for not being pure enough) they feel their chances of success are increased. Thus the virtue signalling scrabble we now witness. Of course the advertisement of goodness bears no relation to real goodness.
