The Difference

The difference between modern leftist liberalism and conservatism is important and instructive.

The modern liberal mindset is much infected with socialism and Marxism. It attempts to hold in existence, through an exhausting effort of will, an artificial intellectual construct projected somewhere into a future, always just out of reach.

In contrast the true conservative mind is not ideological at all. It simply seeks to accommodate itself to the human condition and the natural condition of human societies as it is and they are. It derives from culture, language, geography, gender, nature (and believes that there is such a thing) and so on; all of the things that exist before we even begin to think or project.

This is why the left can never understand the right. They are expecting a counter-ideology that never comes.
